Review : My Zojirushi NP-HBQ10 Rice Cooker (Part 3) - Porridge

Using my Zojirushi rice cooker, cooked some white porridge few days ago.

This time, I used Koshihikari Rice alone. Didn't mix with any other grains because I wanted to test the machine, and ensure every single grain breakdown is even.

Half cups of Koshihikari Rice into the rice cooker, put in water according to the level indicator. It takes about 1 hour to cook. And yes, it doesn't disappoint me.

The porridge turned out beautifully shiny and soft.

Japanese Rice

I will have to admit that Koshihikari Rice plays a big part, as the good quality rice itself gives the porridge it's shiny gloss texture. But for the softness of the grain and the water level indicator that direct me to achieve such good consistency of the porridge texture, the credit goes to the rice cooker :)

Japanese Rice

I took this picture straightaway once it's done. It's still very hot. You could still see some grains still in shape. But pls don't get cheated by how it looks like. When I leave the porridge cool down for 10mins and give it a stir, and then I consume it, the softness is juuuuuust nice.

Love it!

Do make sure that you read my Part 1 and Part 2 review too :)

  2. Hi,
I have read all 3 parts of your review and indeed very impressed with the NP-HBQ10 Rice Cooker.
May i know if you have tried using the rice cooker to cook rice mixed with chicken pieces or rice mixed with yam etc or rice with pork, sausages and cabbage i.e. you stir fry rice with ingredients and then put everything into the rice cooker to cook ?
    Thanks very much.
